City Oval’s Gavin Mann, Heath Fumberger & Ben Morris win 2022-2023 BHBR Men’s Triples event

City Oval Bowling Club captured another regional title in their Centennial year with Gavin Mann, Heath Fumberger and Ben Morris winning the 2022-2023 BHBR Men’s Triples event on Sunday, 18th December 2022 at Kyneton Bowling Club.

It was a tough slog for the City Oval threesome who faced an extra end play off in their morning semi final win over the composite entry of Aaron Young, Anthony Mathison and Ethan Higgins from the Highlands playing area before following up with an extra end victory in the final against Webbcona’s Chris Steenhuis, Zac Stewart and Ben McArthur after scores were level on 14 apiece after 18 ends.

The final end saw City Oval with 2 shots in the head, thanks to good draw bowls from Ben Morris, with the final up shot bowls by Ben McArthur unable to alter the final outcome; winning 16 shots to 14 in a thrilling match.

Close matches were the order of the day with quality bowls on display in each final.

It’s been a successful couple of months for City Oval Bowling Club with Gavin Mann, Heath Fumberger & Ben Morris adding the Triples title to the Region Fours title they won in November with fellow club member Wayne Roberts.

City Oval’s lady bowlers Sandy Grano, Sally McCracken, Elizabeth Kierce and Janine Roberts snared the regional Women’s Fours title, while Elizabeth Kierce took out the Women’s Over 60 Singles.
