Deer Park captures Champion of State Pennant 2024 – Weekend title at Moama

Deer Park defeated Moama by 10 shots to win Champion of State Pennant 2024 – Weekend on Sunday, 5th May 2024 at Moama Bowling Club.

The Deer Park rinks led by Ryan Tainton (18-7) and Jay Bye-Norris (13-12) scored victories over the Kevin Anderson and Alex Marshall rinks respectively, while Moama’s Cam Keenan (10-8) led his rink to a 2 shot win over Mark Casey’s rink.

Deer Park won 39-29 over Moama in an entertaining clash in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

BHBR’s Victoria Bowling Club finished fourth in Section 1 behind Moama, Cohuna Golf and Stawell with 2 wins and 3 losses in their section.

Victoria started strongly in their first-round clash on Saturday, 4th May beating Stawell by a massive 30 shots with all three rinks up, before Moama turned up the heat in their second-round match with a 56-29 win over the BHBR team.

A 31 shot win over Bairnsdale followed in Round 3 for Victoria in their last Saturday game, before losing their final two matches on Sunday to Frankston (39-53) and Cohuna Golf (36-44).

It was a top effort by the Victoria side against the state’s best Saturday pennant teams.
