Role of the BHBR Board
Under the BHBR constitution (and the auspices of Bowls Victoria) the Board has the mandate for managing and coordinating bowls in our region.
The Board is responsible for:
- promotion/relegation and the numbers of sides in each division/playing area
- the development of fixtures
- approval on changes to Conditions of Play
- the appointment of committees to organise regional programs (including but not limited to,
Pennant, Greens, Junior Development, Selection, Umpiring, State Events) - Details regarding regional make-up, roles, numbers and coordinators
- the management of State Events and Conditions of Play for those events
- the approval of any exemptions for finals eligibility (through its Pennant committee) in line with the Conditions of Play.
Since the establishment of the new Victorian regions in 2021, we have been trying to move towards the BHBR being one region and all decisions and programs are designed with this in mind.
Therefore, all state events are now regional events (from the start of the event) and will be played as such (not separated into playing areas)
All committees are regional committees. Therefore, all Expressions of Interest for committees are for the overall regional committees – not Playing Area committees.
As of 2022-23 all State events are organised by the State Events committee not the Pennant Committee
In general, the Board’s role and mandate is to organise and coordinate bowls in our region.
Playing Areas do not have a role in this other than to try and ensure that they have adequate representation on the BHBR Board and committees.
