Greg Ross, Gary Moy, Ross Powell and Amy Newman combine to win Annual 4’s event at Ballarat North

Ballarat North Bowling Club hosted its Annual 4’s tournament on Sunday, 4th February 2024 with fine bowling and plenty of fun the order of the day.

The boys from Learmonth, Greg Ross, Gary Moy and Ross Powell, combined with recently crowned Ballarat North ladies club champion, Amy Newman, to win the popular event.

Runners up were a composite Mt Xavier (3) and Webbcona (1) team, comprising of Colin Thompson, Chris Squire, Mal Harper and Stephen Jones.

First year Sebastopol bowler Dave Ellis enjoyed the day with his young son Ethan, along with club mates Sean Bryce and Boyd Browing.

“We had a fantastic day,” Dave said.

“It’s great playing with Ethan and he has only just taken the game up and we’ve thrown him in at the deep end.”

“He’s joined the Ballarat Gold Diggers to learn more about the game and is enjoying his bowls.”

“It was a fun day playing alongside Sean and Boyd too and we had a great day playing against some very good bowlers.”

“The club put on a top day and we are looking forward to returning next year a little older and a little wiser.“

Ballarat North is hosting a BPL Cup qualifier event on Sunday, 24th March 2024 at 9.30am and entries are via the below link.

Format:

  • 2 x sets of 5 ends (1 end tie break if required)
  • Teams of 3-4 players. Matches are 2 bowl triples.
  • Players in team must all be members of the same bowls club.

BPL Cup winners at Ballarat North head off to regional events for a chance to cmpete at Club Pine Rivers in November 2024.
