Learmonth Bowling Club hosts inaugural Keith Hucker Memorial Fours

Learmonth Bowling Club ran its inaugural Keith Hucker Memorial Fours yesterday.

This event was previously called the Business Fours but is now named in honour of Keith, who passed away this September.

Keith was a life member of the club and played over 1000 Saturday pennant matches over 69 years.

The day attracted 32 teams with both greens filled to capacity and the major sponsor was PM Earthmoving.

Teams came from many different places with the furthest team coming from Hopetoun.

The winners of the day were the team of Ross Boag, Greg Blackburn, Tony Spurgo and David Flintoff.

Runners up were Leon Davies, Brendan Pym, Jake Mullane and Ben Morris.

Players were treated to eggs and bacon rolls cooked by the local lions club and enjoyed delicious coffee from The Salty Sparrow Cafe Van.

Club president Dave Kelly was delighted with how the day turned out.

It was a wonderful day had by all and it could not have been so successful without the help of many of the club members in the kitchen, behind the bar or completing other tasks around the club,” Dave said.

These days are a testament to good hard work by everyone.”
