City Oval captures Ladies Spring Series 2023 at Sebastopol Bowling Club

City Oval Bowling Club is the inaugural winner of the Ladies Spring Series at Sebastopol Bowling Club.

The City Oval team of Sandra Grano, Elizabeth Kierce, Sally McCracken, Cheryl Magrath, Anne Madeley and Janine Roberts were victorious on the day, while Judy Alexander also represented the team throughout the event.

City Oval’s team manager, Sandy Grano, was elated to get the win and thoroughly enjoyed the ladies only format.

It was a fabulous event and just such an honour to win the inaugural Spring Series at Sebas,” Sandy said.

The event itself was a breath of fresh air, having all us women giggling and laughing and just enjoying the event together and bowling very, very well.”

It was run really well and a credit to Rob and the club and all involved in getting it off the ground.”

We are all looking forward to returning next year.”

The City Oval ladies all agreed it was great for women bowlers to be able to skip and play third regularly, as they don’t always get that opportunity at club level.

Sebastopol’s Bowls Administrator, Rob Baker, was delighted with the positive response to the first running of the Ladies Spring Series event.

The positive response in regard to continuing the event next season was overwhelming,” Rob said.

It was so successful it is believed allowances will be required next season for its expansion.”

The fact that the finals were required to be played over two fills (under the Dome) due to inclement weather did nothing to detract from the event and may have even added to the atmosphere.”

This gave each team the opportunity to support their fellow teammates during their turn to sit out.”
