BHBR @ 2023 Region Sides Championships (Moama) – Day 1
The Ballarat Highlands Bowls Region’s men’s and women’s district sides managed one win and one loss each on Day 1 of the 2023 Region Sides Championships at Moama.
Our two BHBR district sides are competing in the Silver section of the draw and Echuca Bowling Club was home to Rounds 1 & 2 action.
In a great result for our men’s side, they defeated Geelong by 6 shots in the first round before finding the Murray Mallee too strong in the second round.
BHBR Secretary Wayne Morgan was on hand to witness the action and was delighted to get a win over Geelong.
“The men had a great win over star studded Geelong side and it was a fantastic team effort,” Wayne said.
“Unfortunately, the Murray Mallee men got the better of us in the second game.”
It was the opposite result for our women’s side, who lost by 8 shots to Geelong before proving too good for the Murray Mallee, winning by 4 shots.
“Our women lost to Geelong in the first round but bounced back strongly in the second match for a great win against the Murray Mallee,” Wayne said.
Both sides play three games tomorrow and good luck against more tough opposition.
