BHBR at the Under 18 State Championships at Bendigo East Bowling Club
A number of Ballarat Highlands Bowls Region Under 18 boys and girls competed in the U18 State Championships held from Monday, April 17th to Friday, 21st April 2023 at Bendigo East Bowling Club.
Competing bowlers included Boyd Browning (Sebastopol), Nathan Dubberley (Ballarat), Xavier Hanrahan (Bungaree), Micah Oswin (Victoria), Addy Ryan (Learmonth) and Dusty Taylor-Irwin (Creswick)
Creswick’s Dusty-Taylor Irwin combined with Heathmont’s Will Mays to finish runners-up in the U18 Mixed Pairs event to Emilee Davies (Club Sunbury) and Koby Cromie (Yarrawonga).

Under 18 Boy’s Singles
Nathan Dubberley (Ballarat) – Section 4
Micah Oswin (Victoria) – Section 6
Boyd Browning (Sebastopol) – Section 20
Ballarat Gold Digger Oscar Jones, who plays for Yarraville/Footscray in Melbourne, was defeated in Round 2 of the Finals by eventual winner Jack Cassidy from Moonee Valley.

Under 18 Girl’s Singles
Dusty Taylor-Irwin (Creswick) made it through to Round 2 (Went down by 3 shots to eventual winner, Amity Bickley from Berwick).
Addy Ryan (Learmonth) got through to the Quarter Finals (Went down by 8 shots to eventual runner-up, Emilee Davies from Club Sunbury).

Emilee and Dusty lost by 1 shot to eventual winners Maddison Jacobs (Ocean Grove) and Chloe Scherger (Fitzroy Victoria).

Dusty Taylor-Irwin (Creswick) and Will Mays (Heathmont) – Runners-Up
Dusty and Will lost by 2 shots to Emilee Davies (Club Sunbury) and Koby Cromie (Yarrawonga).
Addy Ryan (Learmonth) and Nick Rowley (South Bendigo) – Quarter Final
Addy and Nick lost by 3 shots to eventual runners-up Dusty Taylor-Irwin (Creswick) and Will Mays (Heathmont)).

Emilee Davies (Club Sunbury), Dusty Taylor-Irwin (Creswick), Jack Cassidy (Moonee Valley) – Semi Final
Emilee, Dusty and Jack lost by 1 shot to Jack Wardrope (Moonee Valley), Bailey Moffat (Club Sunbury) and Joshua Leszczynski (Club Sunbury)
Addy Ryan (Learmonth), Harry Coleman (City of Geelong) and Nicolas Rowley (South Bendigo) – Quarter Finals
Addy, Harry and Nicolas lost by 10 shots to Oscar Jones (Yarraville/Footscray), Will Mays (Heathmont) and Koby Cromie (Yarrawonga).
