City Oval’s Elizabeth Kierce looking forward to 2022-2023 State Champions Week challenge in Bendigo

City Oval’s Elizabeth Kierce is looking forward to the challenge ahead when she plays Canadian international Kelly McKerihen in the first round of the Champion of Champions Women’s Singles event during 22-23 State Champions Week in Bendigo.

Elizabeth defeated Michelle Tait (BMS) by one shot to win the Ballarat Highland’s Bowls Region’s Women’s Champion of Champions title this season and now steps up to compete against the state’s best women bowlers, drawing one of the state’s very best in the first round.

I’m playing a tough opponent in Kelly, but they are all tough at this level,” Liz said.

She’s an accomplished bowler at international level and I’ll have to bring my best from the start.”

I’m looking forward to the match and will give it my best shot.”

Elizabeth’s opponent, Clayton’s Kelly McKerihen, defeated Murrumbeena Park Bowls Club’s Jessica Alvaro by 6 shots to win the Sandbelt’s 22-23 Champion of Champions Women’s Singles event and is a quality bowler at the highest level.

Kelly was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia, and in 2022, she competed in the women’s triples and the Women’s fours at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The match is scheduled for a 9.30am start on Sunday, 23rd April 2023 at Bendigo East Bowling Club in Bendigo.

Good luck to Elizabeth and all BHBR bowlers representing the region in Bendigo.
