Victoria’s Jill Hopper and Debbie Gorin take out 2022-2023 BHBR Women’s Over 60 Pairs event

The Victoria Bowling Club pair of Jill Hopper and Debbie Gorin have taken out the 2022-2023 BHBR Women’s Over 60 Pairs event played on Thursday, 8th December 2022 at Ballarat North Bowling Club.

The pair played off in the final against the sister combination of Julia Holton from BMS and City Oval’s Elizabeth Kierce.

In a high quality, entertaining final, Jill Hopper was rapt to get the victory with her partner Debbie Gorin.

We started off positively which helped place us in good place for the final outcome,” said Jill Hopper

We’re just really thrilled to win it this year and coming here today in difficult conditions we’re absolutely rapt.”

We just wanted a really positive start, and it was a tough, tough game against good opposition who won this event last year and we did it.”

Winning skipper Debbie Gorin stated, “it was a challenge for all bowlers to master the prevailing gusty winds all day.

Winning the first two ends and leading by 4 shots helped set up the win for the Victoria pair, as Julia & Liz started winning the remaining ends but were unable to overcome the earlier deficit which saw Debbie Gorin’s team win with the final result 13 shots to 8.

Congratulations to Jill and Deb on their victory and good luck representing the region in Bendigo next year.
