BMS to host Ballarat under lights in first for Ballarat Highlands Bowls Region

BMS are set to host Ballarat under lights for the first time on Friday, 2nd December 2022 at Ballarat Memorial Sports Bowling Club in a first for the Ballarat Highlands Bowls Region.

The home team sit fifth on the ladder with 3 wins and 72 points while their opponents are third on 4 wins and 84 points, making this a must win game for BMS to keep them in contention for the top four.

BMS skip Mick Storey is looking forward to the showdown and many more games under lights in future.

This Friday night we’re playing Ballarat in a night game, and it will be the first time we’ve played under the lights with the new lighting system.” Mick said.

The game is going to start at 6.30pm and we’re all looking forward to playing a good side and it will be a good night.”

There’ll be a barbecue, along with a lot of supporters and a first for the Ballarat Highlands in Division 1.”

It was always on the cards for BMS to have a night pennant game according to Mick.

We spent $63,000 buying new lights so we could change the game of lawn bowls, so people could play on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night in any division if they wanted to play.”

Just to change the concept of bowls so people could play at different times and still spend time with their families.”

The night match is creating plenty of interest around the bowls community and it promises to be great evening for all involved.
