Webbcona’s Leah & Ben McArthur capture 2022-2023 BHBR Mixed Pairs Championship event

The Webbcona mother & son pair of Leah & Ben McArthur have captured the 2022-2023 BHBR Mixed Pairs championship event played on Sunday, 23rd October 2022 at Ballarat Memorial Sport (BMS) Bowling Club.

The pair had a comfortable Semi Final victory, winning 16-4 against City Oval’s Lyn Kelson and Gary Hamilton in the morning, before stepping out in the Grand Final in afternoon against composite duo Liz Kierce (City Oval) and Gary Johnson (Webbcona) to capture the title.

It was an entertaining Final, consisting of many tight ends and it was thanks to many exceptional shots played by Ben McArthur that maintained his pairs’ team dominance throughout the match.

Despite initially losing the first end of the Grand Final, the McArthur pair scored a 6 on the second end and continued their good form for most of the game, consistently winning shots to score a 21-9 win, along with the region mixed pairs crown.

Liz Kierce and Gary Johnson defeated the Clunes pair of Eileen Spong and Alan Carnegie 20-12 in their Semi Final in the morning, in a game where Liz’s draw bowling was a decisive factor in their win.
