2022/2023 BHBR Mixed Pairs kick off at BMS Bowling Club

The 2022/2023 Ballarat Highlands Mixed Pairs event kicked off at Ballarat Memorial Sports (BMS) Bowling Club on Sunday, 9th October 2022 with 36 teams competing from across the region.

It was great to see strong representation from the Highlands playing area with teams from Kyneton, Diggers Rest, Gisborne, Romsey and Broadford all making their way to Ballarat to play in the event.

Three Round 1 matches were held in the morning with 16 Round 2 matches in the afternoon, leaving 16 pairs set to compete in Round 3 clashes next week.

BHBR’s Tom Clarke had a busy day organising the event and was pleased with the turnout.

“It’s fantastic to have so many pairs teams from across the whole region, from both Ballarat and the Highlands, and there was plenty of top bowling out there on the greens today.”

“The weather was good and the greens played well, and we look forward to next week’s matches now with some quality pairs teams set to play each other in knockout games.”

Emerging junior bowler, Addy Ryan, from Learmonth, stepped out in the mixed pairs with her father, David, and they went down by 3 shots, losing 10-13 in a closely fought contest against experienced duo, Wayne & Janine Roberts from City Oval.

Addy, a member of the Ballarat Gold Diggers team who finished second from 24 teams in the Doug Kneebone Tournament last month at Club Sunbury, is making great strides in the sport and we wish her well for future endeavours.

Round 3 is scheduled for Sunday, 16th October 2022 at BMS Bowling Club.

Quarter Final matches will follow at 1.00pm in the afternoon.

Semi Finals and Grand Final are scheduled for Sunday, 16th October 2022 at the same venue.
