Regional Selection
The Ballarat Highlands Bowls Region this season will see many opportunities for the Region to select both men’s and women’s teams to represent us.
This season the Region will participate in the following events:
Boromeo/Lucas Shield | Thu 05 Dec 2024 (??? TBA) |
Whykes Shield/Page-Webster Shield (M&W) | Sun 10 Nov 2024 (Geelong) |
Provincial Championships | Sun 24 Nov 2024 (Bendigo) |
Region Sides Championships (M&W) | Jan 11-12 2025 (Ballarat) |
Anne Draffen, chair of the Representative Committee, has been appointed to oversee the selection of teams that will give our Region the best opportunity to showcase the talent we have in the Region.
The Board has agreed to assist in the partial financing of teams that hopefully see our best teams selected. A selection policy will be unveiled in due course which will give all bowlers a clear understanding of what will be required to be selected.
Our hope is that the coaches operating in the Region will support the development of players within the next six months, as well as Gerry Flapper in his work with the junior teams to find bowlers from within his squad who can contribute.
Throughout the season the Ballarat Highlands fields teams in:
Boromeo-Lucas Shield
A Women-only event vs Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Region.
Whykes Shield
A Men-only event vs Geelong Region.
Page/Webster Shields
Women-Only Event vs Geelong Region
Provincial Shield
Men-only event vs Geelong, Wimmera & Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields.
The culmination of the year is always the Region Sides Championships hosted by Bowls Victoria.
Congratulations to all players who represented Ballarat Highlands this year – whether that be through a selected ‘Region Team’, or through winning your way into State Champions week.
It’s always an honour and a privilege to play representative bowls.
BHBR Honour Roll
The Ballarat Highlands Bowls Region has taken the opportunity to start a new tradition of numbered caps.
All players who played at the Region Sides Championships were awarded a Ballarat Highlands Region cap with a number which will forever be associated with that individual.
