Addy Ryan makes Premier Division debut for Deer Park
After making the move from Learmonth to Deer Park in the off season, Addy Ryan has gone from strength to strength at her new club, culminating in a Premier Division debut on Friday, 1st November 2024 against Yarraville-Footscray in Round 2 of 2024-25 Metro Pennant Weekend Premier Division.
“I found out I was playing my first premier game last Saturday morning, to a phone call from coach Nathan Bush,” Addy said.
“Playing my first game was such a great experience, especially alongside such great teammates.”
Addy lined up alongside former BHBR star Brenton Coad, who also made the move to Deer Park this season after a couple of outstanding premiership years at Victoria Bowling Club, plus quality bowlers in Harley McDonald and Lee Schraner.
“It was special playing with Brenton, both coming from Ballarat and getting to experience it together.”
“Also playing with Harley, who is a very talented bowler and Lee Schraner as skip was something I will never forget.”
“Such a great bowler and very supportive of me.”
Addy’s rink won 21-12 on the night and Deer Park 86-16 had a convincing win over Yarraville Footscray 70-2.

The transition from Learmonth to Deer Park has been a smooth one for Addy, and her father David.
“Obviously travel has been a huge change but both Dad and I are getting very used to it now,” Addy said.
“I’m still always at Learmonth and staying connected to them all but enjoying meeting so many new people in metro.”
“Everyone is so welcoming and friendly, most definitely enjoying playing bowls there.”
The Ballarat Gold Digger appears to be thriving under the watchful eye of the Deer Park Youth Bowls Academy.
“Since moving I have noticed big changes in my game, with coaching from the team at Deer Park.”
“Being able to adjust little things has helped me to bowl more consistently and confidently.”
Addy performed strongly at The Nationals- 2024 Australian Under 18 Championships in October, claiming two Bronze medals and a Silver medal and was awarded the Victorian Female Player of the Championships, a wonderful achievement.
“The Under 18 Nationals in Tweed Heads was such a great experience,” Addy said.
“Being able to play with a new group of girls and alongside such a strong team and bringing home bronze in the girls 4’s and pairs was unreal“
“I was really happy with my performance and to get the Vic girl’s MVP for the series.”
“I felt like I was able to step up and take on the new role as Skip very confidently and it showed that all my work can pay off.”
Congratulations to Addy Ryan on her impressive Division 1 debut for Deer Park and an outstanding 2024 Australian Junior Championships campaign.
